David Bell - CK Faculty

David is an expert in consumer shopping behaviour and is the Xinmei Zhang and Yongge Dai Professor at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

He is an award-winning researcher and teacher and developed Wharton’s first course on Digital Marketing and Electronic Commerce which he teaches on both Wharton campuses (Philadelphia and San Francisco).
His current research explains how we use the Internet to search and shop, and why this depends to a large extent on where we live in the real world. His recent book on this topic, “Location is (Still) Everything” has been identified as a “must read for anyone who runs an Internet business”.

David is an active angel investor in several Internet businesses and serves as an expert witness in technology litigation. He holds a PhD from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, an MS in Statistics also from Stanford University, an MA (Honorary) from the University of Pennsylvania and an MCom (First Class Honours) and BCom from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He resides in the US but remains a citizen of New Zealand.
